Chauncey’s days were filled with watching her friends find families, leaving her behind to peer through a door’s gap, longing for her turn. Despite her gentle nature and love for play, she remained overlooked, puzzling the shelter staff who adored her.
Angel Cox, CEO of the Spartanburg Humane Society, shared with The Dodo, “Chauncey is very shy until she gets to know you. So, with all the barking and constant activity at the shelter, she kind of watched the world go by.” The staff did their best to comfort her, taking her on walks and showering her with affection, making her a volunteer favorite for her excellent leash manners and loving demeanor.
Hope sparked when a family adopted Chauncey, but their home wasn’t the right fit, and she found herself back at the shelter. Yet, the Spartanburg team didn’t lose hope. Determined to find her a home, they turned to social media to share her story, capturing the heart of a new family. This time, Chauncey’s charm and sweetness immediately won over her adopters, securing her a place in their home and hearts.
