Abandoned at IAPA’s doorstep on Christmas Eve, Mam Nata, a soon-to-be mother, was discovered in a dire state, nearly nine weeks pregnant and barely able to stand.
The fear was palpable in her eyes as she faced the uncertainty of her future and the lives of her unborn puppies. Left by an owner overwhelmed by the prospect of new life, Mam Nata initially resisted the help from shelter volunteers, her maternal instincts in full force. Yet, with patience and kindness, she gradually opened her heart to those aiming to help her.
“Her belly is huge—looks like there could be 13 or 14 puppies,” remarked a volunteer, highlighting the urgent need for medical attention due to Mam Nata’s weakened condition. The team rallied around her, preparing for an ultrasound to assess her health and that of her puppies. In a heartwarming turn of events, Mam Nata, now under the shelter’s care, welcomed 14 healthy puppies into the world, each one a beacon of hope and a testament to her resilience.
